there has been a lot of newsreports about the zika virus, and what it might be causing. now there is new evidence fromphysicians that say we might not have gotten the story right.first of all, let me set it up. the tech times have the story.they say -- you guys might have seen inthe newspapers, pictures of the babies with the tiny heads.obviously super, super sad. most of them die fairly quickly, andobviously their brains are not fully developed. but here comesthe twist. the tech times says --
that is interesting. so the name of the group isphysicians in crop-sprayed towns, obviously they are concernedabout that issue. so their interpretation of this is notthe end-all, be-all, it is not the end of the question. it does raise new questions because ofsome of the data we will share with you in one second, butunderstand this is one interpretation. they go on to
explain -- again, all the evidence isnot in. this is not climate change, 97% of the world'sscientists have not agreed to the answer here. but as you look atthe data here, and as these scientists look at the data,they find something alarming that has not fit the narrativewe have been taught. let's see if you can reach your ownconclusion here -- that is the statethey are studying -- this is where this monsantoaffiliate put this chemical into
the water, and in that state wehave 35% of all the reported cases. that is a very high number, but 65% are elsewhere.that is not the only state in which they put these chemicals into the water, so i don't wantanybody to panic, but it started in brazil, largely in brazil. itstarted in that particular state, and the most amount ofcases are in that state. there is more evidence -- again, if it is confirmed byother scientists, that is an
important fact. wow. again, if confirmed andtriple checked, also very telling. let me give you moredetails about colombia -- now -- in columbia, there is plentyof zika virus, infected women, but their babies are fine. interesting. now -- the other half could berelated to zika, understand there are a lot of differentthings that could happen here.
it might be it is just the zikavirus and this is an anomaly, it will be explained by later research. it could be that yes,the chemicals put into the water affected the mosquitoes,mosquitoes then passed that on to humans, or it could be thatit is the zika virus carried with mosquitoes, when itinteracts with the water in the water supply humans are drinking, that causes the issueand results in microcephaly. a lot of that has to be studied,there are a lot of variables.
don't jump to any conclusions.but it raises important questions about the narrativethat has been assumed all along. finally there is one other giant organization that has weighed inor not weighed in, and thereby is relevant here -- if someone tells you that thejury is in, that is not true, either way. the jury is stillout on this, we will need a lot more research into it, but thatis what scientists are for, and honestly this is an enormouslyimportant issue not just for
brazil and latin america but forthe whole world. there will be a lot more research done on it,but it might not be as simple as we were led to believe.
